Enjoying a 20-year working relationship with a client is something to be proud of. Seeing that client grow from a North East family business to a coveted national and online brand makes us prouder still.

Established in 1946, the force in furniture that is Barker and Stonehouse became our first ever client in 1999, and our shared aversion to sameness has seen us collaborate on sector-shaking campaigns ever since.

Barker and Stonehouse is a premium lifestyle retailer, providing inspirational furnishing ideas ranging from Italian leather upholstery to Scandi-style dining and sustainable reclaimed-wood bedroom ranges to home office, children’s furniture, flooring and accessories. Design for life.

To grow, the brand needed to reach out to a broader customer base, appealing to new customers whilst retaining its core age 55+ affluent base.

Focusing on the brand’s core brand strengths of choice, quality and character, we leveraged Barker and Stonehouse’s role as a conduit for people’s self-expression, creating a distinctive platform about diversity and individuality: ‘Vive la difference’. This brings the brand offer clearly to life through brand-response communications that balance emotional and rational messaging across the entire customer journey, from inspiration to conversion and advocacy, on and offline.

The result? Consistent use of emotionally charged branding balanced with tactical activation has broadened brand appeal, attracting a new, younger audience whilst retaining core customers aged 55+.

Barker and Stonehouse has grown since 1999 into the UK’s largest independent furniture retailer, and is recognised as one of the UK’s most admired businesses by the London Stock Exchange.
